Products

We use natural preservative systems in our products because we believe they provide the best protection without nasty chemicals.

Instead of choosing less expensive and easier-to-use synthetic preservative systems, we chose the road less traveled. We worked for over two years to create formulas that include safe, effective natural preservative systems. No nasty chemicals; not even a little bit.

Yes! Every product we make is gluten-free, because we live gluten-free.

Goodness, no! Our skin care is for everyone. But because our daughter has Celiac, we understand being gluten-free very well. And we know that most skin care brands shy away from saying they are completely gluten-free. So we put a stake in the ground and decided that every product we make – now and in the future – will be gluten-free. For the sake of our gluten-free customers, and for the love of our daughter.

As the mom of a child with tree nut allergies and a child with Celiac, I completely understand this concern. The answer to this question is... it depends. We worked very hard to ensure our products are nut-free in the traditional sense, meaning no sweet almond oil or other obvious peanut or tree nut related ingredients. However, we do use coconut and shea in our products, which some consider to be "nuts."

I use all of our products on our tree-nut allergic son, without issue. But only you can make the best decision for you or your loved one.

If you live life with allergies, or with someone that has allergies, you already know this:  always check the ingredients for products, even if you've used them before.

Please note that our products contain ingredients derived from COCONUT and EGG.

While I use all of Story's products on our children with (near) reckless abandon, you should always beware of what you're putting on your kids. 

Story's products are all very gentle and contain natural, safe ingredients. You should make the best decision for your kiddos after checking the ingredient listing for each product.

Story's products are all safe and healthy for your skin, and I would not hesitate to use them while pregnant or nursing.

However, for the safety of you and your baby, we feel more comfortable having you consult with your healthcare practitioner prior to use.

Because our Serum contains eggshell membrane, it is not vegan. 

Our Moisturizer and Cleanser may be considered vegan, but please check the ingredient lists for each product to be sure you're comfortable with them.

Absolutely not. We have never tested on animals and we never will. We do, however, test (rigorously) on ourselves and on our friends and family!

The shelf life of our products is generally 12-18 months. For the sake of efficacy, we recommend you use them within three months after opening.

Because Story's products are made with natural, clean ingredients, it is important to store them in a cool, dark place as much as possible. (Light and heat are enemies of natural ingredients.)

Yes! We always recommend wearing a healthy sunscreen over your skin care.

The rule of thumb when applying skin care and other products is to apply products from thinnest to thickest. That means you would apply serum, then moisturizer, then heavier creams like sunscreen.

We prefer sunscreens that use natural, physical sunblocks like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

We are experts in creating incredibly effective natural, clean skin care products. We are not experts in creating natural, clean sunscreen products...yet.

The regulations around sunscreens and SPF ratings are very complex and cumbersome. Right now we are focused on bringing you natural, clean skin care products for healthy skin.

This was a conscious decision to protect the efficacy of our products. Air, light and heat are all enemies of natural ingredients.

We understand that the black bottles, combined with the airless design, may make it difficult for you to know exactly when you're close to running out ("Dear God, don't let me run out!"). Be sure to sign up for a Story account when you make a purchase, so we can send you appropriately-timed reminders.

Our headquarters are just outside Minneapolis, MN, and our manufacturing facilities are located in New York.

Yes! However, our promise to you is that we will only sell products that genuinely work for a skin care purpose. That means we will never add a product just to have another price point.

Orders, Shipping & Refunds

FREE! We've never met anyone that likes shipping fees... and we certainly don't like them. So we ship all orders FREE, no minimum.

We ship within the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as APO/FPO addresses.

Absolutely! We are located in Lakeville, MN, and love to connect with our local customers. 

Please place your order online 24 hours prior to pick-up and indicate "local pick-up" in the notes section in the cart before checkout. We will contact you by email to make arrangements.

All orders ship Monday through Friday, excluding US holidays. Orders placed by 9AM CST Monday-Friday process the same day.

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email with tracking information. Please check your spam folder if you haven't received a shipping confirmation email within a few days of placing your order.

If you believe your package is missing, please double-check around your residence. If you still can't locate the package, please contact Story Customer Care at support@storyskincare.com and we will follow up with the shipping carrier.

If the merchandise inside your package was damaged during shipment, please save the shipping packaging as well as the merchandise and notify us immediately at support@storyskincare.com. We will follow up with the shipping carrier and replace your order right away.

You may cancel your order at any time until your order has shipped. You will be refunded for cancelled items.

To cancel your order, please email support@storyskincare.com. Refunds will only be sent to the original payment method and can take up to 5 business days to be credited back to your account.

We do not currently offer samples. We are confident that you will love your Story. However, we understand that not every product is for every person and we know the pain of a cabinet full of unused skin care. That’s why we offer an unconditional money-back guarantee. 

If you’re not satisfied with your order, for any reason, please send an email to support@storyskincare.com and we will issue a refund to your original payment method for the price of the item(s). We will not ask you to return the products. Please note that we are not able to offer refunds on gift cards.

We do monitor returns and reserve the right to refuse service to anyone that abuses this policy.

A Story sale is very rare. Instead of playing the silly discount game, we have priced our products to be approachable.

That said, we designed our Real Rewards program to reward our loyal customers. You can earn Reality Checks for purchases, social actions, referrals and celebrating your birthday and then you can redeem those Reality Checks for cash discounts. You can also earn discounts for referring your friends and family.

Discount codes and Real Rewards codes are limited to one code per order and in most cases, promotions can only be redeemed once per person. Promotion and discount codes are not redeemable for cash.

We currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, Paypal and various pre-paid gift cards. If using a gift card, please ensure there are sufficient funds before attempting an order. We do not offer split payments at this time.

To purchase a gift card, please choose the desired denomination and add to your cart.

Gift cards are delivered by email and contain instructions on how to redeem them at checkout. You may choose to print or forward the gift card confirmation email to the recipient.

Our gift cards have no additional processing fees, because we really do not like additional fees.

Story gift cards may be redeemed at checkout by entering the gift card code in the field on the right side above the subtotal.

Real Rewards is the manifestation of Story's Golden Rule:  treat others as you would like to be treated. Story's loyalty program is designed to generously reward our most faithful customers. You can earn Reality Checks for purchases, social actions, referrals and celebrating your birthday and then you can redeem those Reality Checks for cash discounts. Reality Checks are points you can earn for purchases, social actions, referrals and celebrating your birthday with Story.

To earn and redeem Reality Checks, simply sign into your Story account.

Nope! You earned them and we're not going to take them away because of an artificial deadline.

When your refund is processed, the points you earned for that order will be deducted from your Reality Checks balance.

No. When you purchase a gift card from our store, you will not earn Reality Checks for the purchase. The Reality Checks are instead earned by the recipient of the gift card when they spend it. The gift that keeps on giving!
