Adult Acne, Part Two: Supercharge Your Success

Be realistic with your expectations. Don’t attempt to incorporate everything in one day, or you’ll set yourself up for failure. Seek progress rather than perfection. If you see improvement, stay the course. Try tweaking things like diet, exercise, water consumption, changing hair care products, etc., until you find a combination that works for you.

Adult Acne, Part One: Clean Up Your Regimen

We have been inundated with tricks, product A for this, product B for that, don’t do this but do that, magic tools, and miracle oils. Getting great skin has seemingly become very complex and for a busy professional or a busy mom, simply overwhelming.

Amazing Skin Tip: Respect your neck.

When applying skin care, always treat these areas with the same respect as your facial skin.

LOVE YOUR SKIN: Eating

Make sure your diet includes things like olive oil, berries, tomatoes, oatmeal, grapefruit, bell peppers, spinach, yogurt, nuts, fish, kiwi, pumpkin, sunflower seeds, carrots, chickpeas, and yes....OH YES, dark chocolate, baby.

LOVE YOUR SKIN: Glowing

Being in a happy relationship, friendship, or even a loving family connection, can do wonders for your skin.

Get your skin winter-ready.

Cold, dry air will deplete your skin of critical moisture in a heartbeat, and catching up once you get behind is difficult. Dry skin brings on brutal challenges such as oily skin, blemishes, deeper wrinkles and lines, sluggish healing and repair, and dullness, to name a few.

Amazing Skin Tip: Cleanse morning and night.

At night, wash away oil, dirt, pollution, makeup and more from the day. In the morning, wash away excess oil, hair products, and more that came from your pillowcase and sheets. When your skin is clean, it is prepped to get the best from your serum and moisturizer.

For great skin, think beyond skin care.

If your skin is giving you fits, be sure you think beyond your daily skin care. Sometimes the primary cause may be something relatively unrelated to your skin care regimen, like hair products, laundry detergent, certain foods, etc.

Consistency is everything.

You can't erase 20 years of bad habits in one week. Make small changes, like cleansing nightly, drinking lots of water, and getting enough sleep — and then stick with it.

Beauty Sleep? Not if your pillowcase is dirty.

Your pillowcase may be aging your skin. If you're focused on preventing or reducing the signs of aging, then you might want to do some laundry quick. A pillow can feel like Heaven after a long day, but if your pillowcase hasn't been changed in awhile, it will wreak havoc on your skin.
